Pixelmetrix Adds Parental Control Audit Application on its Electronic Couch Potato Robot

Pixelmetrix, a specialist in preventive monitoring for digital television and IPTV (News - Alert) networks, announced the addition of parental control audit application in to its programmable test robot, Electronic Couch Potato “ECP.”

According to Pixelmetrix (News - Alert), the ECP programmable test robot monitors true customer-viewing experience by providing measurements from the end point of the content delivery chain. It connects after the Set Top Box “STB” and provides feedback on various service quality parameters to a central site. In addition, it can emulate an end-user changing channels on a STB via a built-in infrared “IR” transmitter.

With the help of ECP robot, customer-specific applications, such as the new parental control audit application and the quality assurance and monitoring application Automated Channel Package Audit, can be quickly developed as well as easily deployed.

The new application, Parental Control Audit, provides automatic verification of parental controls on adult channels. The application scans all channels, and then checks for a locked screen message on adult channels. Once the PIN code is entered, the applications allow the user to proceed to verify correct playout.

Danny Wilson, president and CEO for Pixelmetrix, said, "It's exciting to see the roll out of yet another application on the ECP. Protecting children from inadvertently viewing adult content is of growing concern worldwide. The ECP's flexible architecture makes applications like this a snap to customize and deploy."

Officials with Pixelmetrix said that the latest application on ECP would be showcased at the upcoming IBC 2010 show to be held in Amsterdam.

Apart from the new application, Pixelmetrix will also showcase a host of other solutions featuring affordable TS monitoring, contribution monitoring, terrestrial network monitoring, time-shifting with logo insertion, IP headend monitoring, transport stream recording and playout as well as end-to-end IPTV quality of service monitoring.
