Robotics -MobileRobots Unveils Seekur Jr

MobileRobots Inc, a designer and manufacturer of robots, intelligent mobile bases, autonomous navigation systems and software for robot developers and programmers, has reportedly rolled out Seekur Jr Unmanned Guided Vehicle (UGV).

According to the company, Seekur Jr is a sturdy, all-weather platform that can handle everything from open fields to parking garages. This skid-steer platform handles moderate terrain with good stability offering space, power and networking for onboard PCs and opens the way for onboard vision processing, radio-based communications, laser range finding, DGPS, and other autonomous functions.

The company also noted that it designed this new guided vehicle in a 0.8 X 1m size to help make storage and transport easy for robot teams.

The robot runs up to two hours on its NiMH batteries and its four monster wheels are designed for speeds up to 1.2 meters per second and slopes up to 75 percent with good response, even with a 50kg payload.

Seth Allen, Project Manager at MobilerRobots said, "We designed Seekur Jr to maximize the performance-cost ratio. Since more researchers can afford Seekur Jrs, they'll develop robot applications more quickly, which will create new industries and jobs more quickly to re-build the economy. It's a win all around."
