Data Robotics, makers of automated storage products for enterprises, announced that it has been certified for interoperability with the VMware server virtualization software platform. The company has also been promoted as a VMware Technology Alliance Partner “TAP” program member to "Select" level membership.

 

The VMware certification allows interoperability between VMware virtual machines and Data Robotics' DroboPro storage arrays, ensuring the customers that the DroboPro solution will easily integrate into their VMware virtualized environment. DroboPro will also be listed on the VMware Hardware Compatibility List.

 

Data Robotics introduced DroboPro in April. DroboPro is a self-managing business class storage array characterized by advanced self-monitoring and self-healing functionality that enables small and medium businesses to maintain uptime in the face of constant data growth.

 

Built on Data Robotics’ BeyondRAID virtualized storage platform, DroboPro offers protection against multiple concurrent drive failures and no-downtime capacity expansion with thin provisioning, while eliminating the lock-in of traditional RAID configurations, officials said.

 

By joining the TAP program, Data Robotics is entitled for technical and marketing support from VMware as customers deploy DroboPro storage arrays in VMware environments.

 

Officials say that the certification from VMware, the world leader in virtualization technology, offers multiple benefits to their mutual customers. They can combine the storage solutions from Data Robotics with products from VMware. The availability of VMware-compatible hardware further reduces the capital and operational expenses associated with hardware acquisition and management.

 

“An increasing number of our SMB customers are leveraging the advantages of a VMware infrastructure,” said Geoff Barrall, CEO and founder of Data Robotics, in a statement.

 

“This relationship means that customers will be able to maximize the benefits of DroboPro's unique combination of reliability, expandability, efficiency and ease-of-use when it comes to storing digital content while ensuring technical compatibility with VMware products,” Barrall added.

 

The TAP program membership enables Data Robotics to provide their customers with a software suite that aids in integration when deploying Data Robotics’ products in a virtual environment.

 

The membership also gives the company access to educational, training and technical support services to build new skill sets within Data Robotics to create a knowledge base aimed at improving customer service.

 

Industry analysts think that the VMware certification is a huge win for Data Robotics. VMware is the leader in virtualization, and a majority of their customers are SMBs with limited budgets. Each of them could benefit from the DroboPro hardware when addressing the storage growth in their VMware environments.
