Robotics -NTUH, Pinnaclemed Install CytoCare Robot from Health Robotics

Health Robotics’ CytoCare Robot has been chosen by National Taiwan University Hospital (NTUH) and Pinnaclemed, a Double Success Co. Ltd. subsidiary.

NTUH will install Health Robotics’ flagship CytoCare Robot during 2009 and Pinnaclemed has signed an exclusive 3-year distribution, licensing, and support contract with the company.

Both NTUH and Pinnaclemed aim to automate the preparation of hazardous Oncology I.V. Admixtures with Health Robotics' CytoCare Robot in Taiwan.

CytoCare is already present in Malaysia, Australia, and Japan, and NTUH will represent its fourth country installation in Asia/Pacific, according to Werner Rainer, Health Robotics' CEO. The company aims to double the number of installations over the next six months and notes ongoing activities in Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, China, India, and New Zealand.

Health Robotics’ CytoCare will be installed at NTUH in October-November 2009. Health Robotics chose Double Success as its exclusive CytoCare partner in Taiwan and signed an agreement for the next 3 years. Under the agreement, both companies will also cooperate in the CytoCare installation and technical support for NTUH.

Noting CytoCare as the only existing Oncology IV Admixtures Robot in the world, Eddy Liu, general manager of Double Success said in a release that this agreement complements Double Success medical portfolio of products and services.

“We are very impressed that a small foreign company like Health Robotics could accomplish what they did at NTUH on their own, including the budget approval, a feat unheard of in Taiwan for a foreign company,” Liu said. “We look forward to take the "baton" from Health Robotics and continue their work in our country, expanding the reach of CytoCare to other hospitals in Taiwan.”

Health Robotics is a global supplier of life-critical intra-venous medication preparation, compounding, and dispensing robots. The company was in news last month for signing an exclusive five-year strategic deal with a US-based healthcare services and information technology company, McKesson. As per the agreement, Health Robotics' CytoCare Robot will be supplied in the US and Canada.
