PCS Edventures!.com, a company that designs, develops and delivers educational learning labs, announced that its proprietary robotic micro-controller has been successfully deployed throughout the United States and multiple locations worldwide.
The Brain, an educational robotics technology, was designed to provide end users with a comprehensive and flexible system that works with industry standard materials in a variety of environments including the K-12 and University classroom as well as the hobbyist workshop.
Apart from the U.S., The Brain is deployed in countries including Singapore, Thailand, Korea, Saudi Arabia, the Netherlands, and Germany. The combined sales from distribution partners and in-house sales are now approaching 2,000 units, according to officials.
Another educational robotics technology from PCS Edventures, The Cortex, also fills a strong need in the educational robotics marketplace. The Cortex is a progressive programming environment from PCS.
According to David Chase, one of the lead developers on The Brain design team, educational robotics customers were continuously demanding the ability to integrate their robots with other materials.
“The Brain and The Cortex were designed to encourage interoperability and creativity with no limits,” Chase added.
The Brain provides the flexibility through a number of built-in hooks for attaching the controller securely to a variety of systems including fischertechnik, LEGO, K'NEX, and industry standard hobbyist materials such as those seen in radio control devices. This approach sets The Brain and The Cortex apart from all other competitors in the field.
The worldwide robotics industry is worth $24.9 billion, with the service and personal robotics market making up nearly 70 percent of that number. According to Tony Maher, president and CEO of PCS Edventures, robotics in education will be a significant driver in their educational sales strategies.
“There is no doubt that the worldwide acceptance of robotics in the classroom is now passing from the early adopter stage to something more significant, and our 20 years of experience in this area positions us nicely to take advantage of this expanding market,” Maher added. “Our initial launch numbers have been good and we see order frequency and size increasing rapidly.”
PCS Edventures!.com recently
announced the successful completion of the pilot for a model magnet school with its Australian partner and distributor, Intellecta Technologies. An initial Academy of Engineering installation ordered earlier this year was placed at Aviation High School in Brisbane, Queensland – a model magnet school designed to facilitate student career placements within the aviation industry.
