Robotics -Robotics Industry Veteran Joins Factory Automation Systems


Factory Automation Systems (FAS), an integrator in robotics and advanced automation technologies, has announced the appointment of Ron Potter to its team. Potter is an industry veteran in the field of Robotics with more than 40 years of experience.
 
Potter will look after the development of robotic applications segment of FAS’ automation business.
 
Factory Automation Systems is a unique full-service Systems Integrator founded in 1992. The applications developed at the company include palletizing, material handling, and the FAS FlexTend Robotic Machine Tending System. The company also boasts of a huge library of robot end-of-arm tooling.
 
Ross Pryor, President of Factory Automation Systems said, “Ron’s knowledge and expertise of industrial robotics applications is well-recognized by his peers, as evidenced by his receipt of the Joseph F. Engelberger Award for Robotic Applications.”
 
FAS Project Managers use defined methodologies to assure consistency in project management and customer support. They are also PMP-certified, and receive on-going training. These technicians are recognized as experts in the field of factory automation and controls systems. Also, the company adheres to industry standards, including commitment to safety standards, GAMP (Generally Accepted Manufacturing Practices), performance standards, and software documentation standards.
 
Recently, the company was awarded a contract by General Motors (News - Alert) Corporation to provide integration services for the installation of over 170 new FANUC industrial robots at the General Motors Assembly Plant in Doraville, Georgia, just outside of Atlanta. 
 
These new robots will replace older generation robots and will be installed over a nine-month period of time. Integration services include assembly and verification run-off of both spot welding and material handling robots.
