Subsea 7 Purchases Two HD ROV Systems from Schilling Robotics

Subsea 7 has purchased two HD ROV systems from Schilling Robotics, which specializes in subsea systems. The ROVs have 150hp and are 3,000m-rated. The systems are compact but offer space onboard for tooling systems, the company said.

“We are very pleased that Subsea 7 has selected to continue to implement the HD ROV in their projects,” Tyler Schilling, CEO of Schilling Robotics, said in a company press statement. “The HD is fully compliant with the most demanding offshore energy industry requirements.”

Subsea 7 S.A. is an engineering, construction and services contractor to the offshore energy sector.

FMC Technologies has held a 45 percent interest in Schilling since 2008. Last month, FMC said it will buy the remaining 55 percent interest by March 30, 2012. FMC Technologies designs, makes and services systems and products. These include “subsea production and processing systems, surface wellhead systems, high pressure fluid control equipment, measurement solutions, and marine loading systems for the oil and gas industry,” TMCnet said.

In other recent news, Schilling Robotics delivered a new HD ROV system to Seabed. The order was for HD 23, which is a 150hp, 4,000m-rated ROV system. The HD gives “flexibility for construction, intervention, and IMR applications,” the company said in a statement. It has a “significant reduction in components, enables modular maintenance, and significantly reduces major component replacement timeframes,” the company added.

“The exceptional reliability, performance, and configurability of the HD make it an ideal solution for Seabed,” Hans Martin Gravdal, CEO for Seabed, said in a press release. “With our experience and expertise, combined with ultra-modern vessels, the HD ROV system will complement and enhance our capabilities as a prominent subsea operations company.”

Schilling Robotics is a deep-ocean robotics company founded in 1985. Schilling has its headquarters in California with regional offices in Texas, Aberdeen (News - Alert), Scotland, and Singapore, according to TMCnet.
